Believing in a Dream
The Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA) has reached its milestone anniversary, celebrating 30 years in a community that has steadfastly carried WICA's arts mission forward. I wonder if the founders had any idea the success and the beauty of this dream that they had in the late 1980s and how, after years of work, it would begin to take shape. But when I look back, they are incredible visionaries. All those people who came together for a decade to just talk, dream, raise funds, and build WICA—I can't thank you enough. We're here today, celebrating a successful Anniversary Renovation campaign, an inspiring 30th Anniversary Celebration: The Year of the Pearl Gala, and the continuation of impactful programming because of you. You made my dream come true, and you've made a million other dreams come true. We wouldn't be here without a community who believed in this dream.
Please enjoy our 24-minute "WICA Movie" highlighting the history and vision of the organization. I hope that you'll be inspired by the miracle that took place here and the ways in which we are stewarding the original arts mission forward.
