Pam Houston's Cowboys Are My Weakness

Adapted and Directed by Myra Platt

In collaboration with Book-It Repertory Theatre, Cowboys Are My Weakness is performed in the Book-It style. A digital script is available upon request. Rehearsals begin the 2nd week of September, with the production opening on October 10th for a 3-week run.

Contracted Production. Open to all, including union actors.

Auditions at WICA on July 22, callbacks on the 23rd.

  • Prepare one or two monologues, at least one comedic/contemporary
  • Sides available to read at the audition for those that do not have a monologue
  • Resume and Headshot appreciated

Audition Call: 2 WOMEN and 3 MEN—who all play multiple characters—(total of 30+ characters in all)—Strong comedic chops – Age 40+

Female tracks:

Woman 1: a single woman from New Jersey with a romanticized picture of the west / a whitewater river guide in training / a dog-lover / a ranch hand

Woman 3: a best female friend to a single woman / a national park ranger / a cocktail-drinking aunt / a single, opinionated woman who carries a romanticized picture of the west and cowboys

Male tracks:

Man 1: a rugged hunter who snares women as much as wild life / a seasoned whitewater river guide who loves his wife / and a true gentleman cowboy

Man 2: a single woman's best male friend / a whitewater river guide in training / a guitar playing boyfriend who loves dogs / a nerdy, wannabe cowboy

Man 3: a rugged, know-it-all outdoor adventure dude who might not know what he's doing / a dog / a new-age rancher / an old-timey cowboy
