Lasher Gallery Featured Artist: Dave Anderson

Painting of Vancouver's ship Discovery with Indigenous canoers in the foreground with Orcas and mountains and forests in the background

All artists get inspiration from others and I am no exception. My painting is inspired by Alfredo Arreguin's body of work. His pattern painting style has always intrigued me. I have tried to mimic it and apply it to northwest subjects: marine fauna (salmon, orcas), local history (Captain Vancouver's discoveries), scenery (mountains, trees, marine settings), etc. I like Alfredo's colorful images and pattern painting lends itself to that.
