Building Something that Endures

For nearly three decades, the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts has been an arts hub. It’s a space that inspires, engages, and connects. WICA began as an idea in 1996 and over the years has grown to become Island County’s largest arts organization and employer—playing a vital role in our region’s cultural and economic health and well-being. In May 2026, we’ll be celebrating a monumental anniversary that is a testament to WICA’s resilience. We’ve remained an award-winning, dynamic institution that pushes the boundaries, asks the questions, and gives voice to new experiences. As we gear up for our anniversary, we’ve undergone a transformational renovation that celebrates the WICA spirit and revitalizes this inspiring space. We replaced our mainstage flooring, removed our thirty-year-old theatre seating, and revitalized our lobby and gallery space. We’re still the same WICA—the community hub you know and love—just with a refreshed look that takes us forward and puts you, the audience, front and center. It is our obligation to this community we love, to serve others and build bridges through art. It's about more than entertainment, so we invite you to come see the changes yourself, and help us fill the house as we invest in a future that celebrates the enduring WICA experience.
