A Delightful Twist on Agatha Christie’s Poirot Comes to WICA

Something’s afoul on the private golf course of Merlinville-Sur-Mer and Agatha Christie’s beloved Belgian detective Hercule Poirot is on the case at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA). Acclaimed playwright Steven Dietz brings the famed Belgian detective to life to solve the Queen of Mystery’s most intricate whodunits with a host of usual and unusual suspects. Directed by Lani Brockman, recently of WICA’s The Cake and Fiddler on the Roof, the production will open on February 20 in Zech Hall, an intimate setting perfect for the fast-paced and entertaining crime.

“We’re so excited to bring the eccentric and iconic Hercule Poirot to our stage,” said WICA Executive Artistic Director Deana Duncan. “Agatha Christie is such a powerful female voice within the mystery genre and to bring her work to our stage in the form of Steven Dietz’s play is an incredible honor. This theatre series will open just at Langley is welcoming people once again for the longest-running immersive mystery weekend in the country. We invite everyone to come see this play as they put on their detective personas and celebrate the intrigue both on and off stage.”

The WICA production will feature a cast of six versatile actors who embody a myriad of characters as they navigate the twists and turns of this lively and fun new comic-mystery.
