Verna Everitt Executive Director Upon graduating with a BA in International Relations from UCLA, Verna co-founded a film production company in Hollywood where she wrote and produced commercials, videos and feature films. Simultaneously, she was a script analysist for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences.
Verna eventually moved back to the PNW, back to her hometown on Vashon Island. She held the title of Community Outreach Director for Vashon Center for the Arts during their $20 million capital campaign. Verna also sat on three boards including Vashon’s Chamber of Commerce.
Finding an affinity for the nonprofit work Verna was immersed in, she returned to school earning a master’s degree in Nonprofit Arts Leadership from Seattle University. After graduating, she was offered an opportunity to become the Executive Director of a new nonprofit - Vashon Community Care Foundation. For the next three years Verna raised $1.5 million dollars for Vashon’s senior population.
With her fundraising skills sharpened, Verna’s next goal was to lead an arts organization. In August of 2018, Verna found her dream job as the new executive director for Whidbey Island Center for the Arts.

Deana Duncan Artistic Director Deana joined WICA in 1999. Starting as a volunteer, she went on to serve as the Programming and Production Director for 16 years before assuming the role as WICA’s first Artistic Director in 2018.
She was instrumental in the launch of the WICA Theatre Series and has since then directed nine, and produced all of the 95 plays, in the series’ 18 year history. In addition to her work programming theatre, dance, music, art, and humanities events, she manages DjangoFest NW – one of the most respected gypsy jazz festivals in North America.
An accomplished director, favorite WICA credits include Next to Normal, Sweeney Todd, The 39 Steps, Peter and the Starcatcher, and Little Women.
In addition to directing, Deana studies, performs, teaches, and directs with companies such as the Riverpark Center (Kentucky), Nevada Repertory Company, The SITI Company (New York), Freehold Theatre (Seattle), and Island Shakespeare Company.
Deana holds a Masters in Nonprofit Leadership from Seattle University and a BFA in Theatre Arts and Communications from the University of Nevada, Reno. She studied directing with Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher during his tenure as Artistic Director at Intiman Theatre (Seattle) and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Stella Adler Conservatory. Whidbey volunteer work includes two years as the Drama Chair for the Island Arts Council and board membership with Goosefoot Community Fund.
Tristan A.B. Steele Development Director Tristan has lived on Whidbey Island for more than ten years and held a number of executive and volunteer positions with non-profits on South Whidbey. Margaret offers to each commitment her 30+ years as an AT&T Executive in technical and sales management as well as her leadership and organizational skills. A former Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA/GAL) in the Island County Juvenile Court, she continued to bring her experience and skills to her many years of board and officer work with Whidbey Island Nourishes (WIN). She received her B.A. in history and education from Loyola University and her M.S. in computer science from DePaul University, both in Chicago. She has been chair and is a continuing member of the Finance Council as well as the chair of the Social Justice Commission at St. Hubert in Langley. Recognized as a 2017 "Hometown Hero," in the South Whidbey Record, Margaret continues to focus on the well-being of our community.
Jeanne Juneau Marketing Director Jeanne is a marketing leader with a strong graphic design background. Her passion is the intersection where storytelling and targeted messaging come together to create business-changing content. As the WICA Marketing Director, she is responsible for implementing inbound and outbound marketing strategies that help the organization increase brand awareness, generate event excitement, and promote WICA events.
Jeanne does more than wrangle pixels in her role at WICA. Building on more than 20 years of graphic design and inbound marketing experience, she obsesses over new ways to create attention-grabbing content that accomplishes business goals and objectives. To this end, she works closely with in-house contributors to xxxxxxx xxxxxx.
When she isn’t working, you’ll find Jeanne reading on the beach, cooking in the kitchen, or bicycling on the road. Jeanne is a native of New Orleans … part of her heart is still there, visiting family and friends whenever possible.
Tyler Raymond Technical Director Tyler Raymond has been a Whidbey Island resident and WICA's Technical Director since the fall of 2005. Prior to coming to Whidbey he attended Berklee College of Music with a focus on Live music production, installed radio stations all over the country (including 4 FM stations here is Seattle), and worked for a large scale event production company in Chicago. Since coming to Whidbey he has supported over 68 of WICAs's theatre productions from behind the scenes and countless concerts and special events.
Lauren Collins Executive Assistant
Lauren and her husband moved to Whidbey Island in July 2017 after living and working in Bellevue for over 30 years. She was fortunate enough to attend Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts in Natick, MA for high school where she studied Voice and Theatre. Lauren has have loved music all her life and being part of the WICA team allows her, once again, to be around this great world called the arts!
Stacie Johnson Bookkeeper
Stacie moved to Whidbey Island in 1989. After graduating from South Whidbey High School, Stacie went to school to become a pharmacy technician and worked the majority of her pharmacy years for Linds. In 2003 Stacie changed her focus from pharmacy to bookkeeping and hasn't looked back since! She shares her bookkeeping skills with WICA, Linds, and various private clients through her own bookkeeping business. When she isn't working, Stacie enjoys camping with her family, quilting, and reading.
David Gignac Technical and Production Assistant has spent his entire life involved in some aspect of the arts. Much of his early years were spent working in theatrical design and set construction followed by a successful career as a professional artist working in steel, blown glass and painting. His sculptures are in numerous personal collections and museums nationally and abroad. He has made Whidbey Island his home since 1991 where he maintains a working studio while designing and building for the local theater community. David has been involved with WICA since its days as simply an idea and is a former board member. He is excited being a member of the diverse and energetic team that powers WICA.

Karen McInerney Lead House Manager Karen earned a Masters of Social Work from the UW. Her early career was in the federal, state and local levels managing programs for foster care, adoption, teen pregnancy and family planning.
Karen’s work with WICA began when the organization was still a dream for local arts collaborators. She Co-chaired the first auction, then became a volunteer. Following the first DjangoFest, she was put in charge of managing the merchandise and eventually became Lead House Manager. For the past 25 years, Karen has also worked as a manager at Best of the Northwest Art and Fine Craft Show. In addition to all that keeps Karen busy, she finds time to volunteer for Hearts and Hammers, school activities and wedding hostessing.

Noelle Weiner Box Office Representative Noelle first came to WICA about 8 years ago as a production volunteer. Starting with sound queuing, up in the booth, during WICA's production of "On Golden Pond," Noelle introduced her ambition by openly stating to the Asst. Director that she wanted their job, and from that point forward, she volunteered for every new position that opened up. Including following productions like "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" (spot-lighting), "the Understudy" (Light cue), "Metamorphoses" (ASM & Make-up), "the Kentucky Durby" (ASM), & "Big" (ASM/props), and helping with general set building.
Noelle then decided to scope out the invested role of acting, and was given the opportunity when she landed the part as the Artful Dodger in WICA's production of "Oliver!" (the musical); then, later on to be the understudy for Sir Andrew in "Twelfth Night."
After three years of rounding out her theatre experience, Noelle landed the position as Tristan Steel's Asst. to the Director, in WICA's production of "Scrooge the Musical." She now joins the staff team as one of the Box Office Assistants, after a few years away from Whidbey, only to be happy to be with her theatre family, again.
