Known for her expressive musical style and technical virtuosity, 15-year-old Marley Erickson is a top prize winner of both the Louis Spohr and Piccolo Violino International Violin Competitions and has appeared as soloist with orchestras on both sides of the Atlantic. She has participated in the Menuhin International Violin Competitions in 2016 and 2018 and in 2017 was selected as a student artist for the Starling-DeLay Symposium at The Julliard School. An enthusiast of new music, Marley has performed several US and world premieres and received critical acclaim for her performance on the LA Philharmonic’s Green Umbrella Series at Walt Disney Concert Hall: “…the remarkable 13-year-old 'old soul' performer…may be the next Hilary Hahn. Watch out world, here she comes."(San Francisco Classical Voice). She is the 2017 junior division winner of Seattle’s KING FM Radio Young Artist Competition and has twice won the Seattle Symphony’s Young Artist Competition.
On Whidbey Island, Marley studies piano and violin-piano collaboration with Mark Findlay, a WICA regular. Mark received his master’s degree from the Indiana University School of Music and has appeared as soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He performs regularly in solo and in chamber ensembles.
Award-winning cellist Haeyoon Shin has distinguished herself as a multi-dimensional musician. With performances ranging from Benaroya Recital Hall in Seattle to recording sessions for Oscar-nominated films, Shin has inspired new generations of musicians and music lovers in diverse settings, and is dedicated both to education and community engagement. Recent performances festival appearances at the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival and the Birdfoot Chamber Music Festival, as well as live radio broadcasts on KING FM. Passionate about chamber music, Shin has performed with the Russian Chamber Music Foundation and Vista Chamber Concerts. She has also worked with eminent quartets including the Tokyo, Emerson, and St. Lawrence String Quartets. Shin received her degrees as a scholarship student at Yale University, Indiana University, and the Hartt School, studying with Aldo Parisot, Janos Starker, Toby Saks, and Mihai Tetel. She is currently based in Seattle.
Featuring Beethoven’s rousing Piano Trio Op. 1, No. 3 in C Minor and Antonín Dvorák’s heartwarming “Dumky” Piano Trio. Also on the program are works by Paganini, Piazzolla and Rachmaninoff.
